There is a short article on the Troove Technologies blog called We are Troove that talks a bit more about where we came from and why we are building this product.

We are diverse. People with advanced degrees in Linguistics and Computer Science have committed code. Developers who have worked with companies as large as Microsoft and as small as a two person startup have contributed ideas.

We write code, debate philosophy, stay on top of pop culture and enjoy a well earned pint as much as anyone. We are environmentally friendly; the entrance to our office is a de-facto bicycle parking lot.

Troove is a small software company, so to take any advantage we can we look at an assortment of new and exciting technologies.

We use open source software almost exclusively. Some of our work with these projects has been released in turn to the world.
